Marcus Aurelius is a NaStA performance tested and PPS Premium Sire with outstanding conformation and trainability that he passes onto his offspring. Standing Overall Champion at the 2014 AHS Performance Horse Awards, Marcus has enjoyed a long and varied career in a range of different disciplines. In 2010, Marcus stood 4th at Horse of the Year Show in his only full ridden show season, and went on to win FEI 1*YR 80km and 100km CER race-rides in endurance. More recently, Marcus has won 100-110cm showjumping classes in open competition and evented up to BE90. Despite turning 22 this year, Marcus is still Avonbrook Stud’s first choice of ‘trainer’s ride’, whether that’s escorting his progeny to their first competitions, or leading a string up the gallops. Marcus continues to turn his hoof to anything that is asked of him and has become a firm favourite in his local Riding Club.

From Marcus’ progeny, there have been many notable achievements from both pure and part-breds. Currently his only entire purebred son in the UK, Audace Encore (ex Avonbrook Green Rose by Vert Olive), qualified for the BD PetPlan Area Festivals at Novice and Elementary, and was a big winner at the 2022 AHS National Championships, including winning the ridden Crabbet class. Avonbrook Odin (ex April), 50% PBA, evented at BE100 and helped his team to 3rd in the 100cm three-day-event at the 2019 BRC Horse Trials Championships. Odin also competed in BS Members Cup (1.15-1.25) classes and qualified for the 110cm championship at the 2017 NSEA Championships. Annia Aurelia (ex Bint Zaehaebi by Autumn Royal) has made a successful start to her eventing career, competing at the 2022 BRC Horse Trials Championships and marking her British Eventing debut with a double clear in a BE90. Another purebred daughter, PS Aurora Silk (ex Imperial Silk by Shabash) was the BD Elementary Champion at the 2019 BD Associated Championships and is a multiple champion in the show ring. Audace Encore, PS Aurora Silk, and PS Ibn Aurelius (ex PS Silvern Silk by PHA Silvern Risalm) won the inaugural Crabbet Legacy class for their sire at the 2022 AHS National Championships.
