We are going old school for Friday with a true classic – Bespechny.
Foaled in 1987, Bespechny was by Pakistan (Kumir x Panagia) and out of Bionika (Mashuk x Naturshitsa). Bred by the Tersk State Stud in Russia, Bespechny was purchased by Val Bunting for Umm Qarn in Qatar. There, he was Supreme Champion, with Emma Maxwell showing him in-hand, the late Caroline Nelson under saddle.
Bespechny was best known in the UK for being partnered by Caroline. A superlative show horse both in-hand and under saddle, Bespechny won a host of titles, including Reserve World Champion, European Reserve Champion and UK International Reserve Champion. He was also a triple British National Champion – under saddle, in-hand, and as a gelding. He lived out his days in Wales with Carole and Roy Ratcliffe, where he was king.
Utterly Arabian, Bespechny represents an era past – but not forgotten.
