ABOUT THE EDITORS... The Arabian Magazine was founded in 2004 by Samantha Mattocks and Tanya Betts and between them, they made it a global publication. In August 2008, Tanya decided to leave the magazine to pursue other interests, leaving Samantha at the helm. As the magazine gets ready to enter its fifth year, Samantha has a new team in place and is very excited about the future of the publication.
SAMANTHA MATTOCKS - Features Editor
I am primarily in charge of content in The Arabian Magazine, writing articles and undertaking stud visits around the world as well as sourcing articles from our able team of writers.
Prior to founding The Arabian Magazine, I have written for many publications including the AHS News, Absolute Horse Magazine, UK Crabbet Journal and the NS News. In the corporate world, I worked for Aviva (Norwich Union) for many years in their central communications department, interviewing people around the world for a global intranet and producing departmental newsletters.
As for my own horses I have, with my parents, a small stud in south Norfolk which specialises in Crabbet/Old English bloodlines. We currently have eight Arabians including the 100% Crabbet AHS Premium Mare Rosaliah Gold (Golden Silver x Siala).
I myself own a beautiful Donax mare, Crystal Belladonna, who many of you may remember from the veteran class at Malvern 2004 where she qualified for Towerlands. At that show she had her filly foal, Crystal Silvern Aphrodite, at foot, the first foal of the wonderful stallion, PHA Silvern Risalm. Now four years old, Crystal Silvern Aphrodite is off to stud later this year to create my own second generation of breeding.
You can contact me by e-mailing sam@thearabianmagazine.com or calling +44 (0)5600 707175 or +44 (0)7795 023928. I am at many of the shows in the UK and Europe, the Middle East and the US - do come and say hello and introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you.
