SAMANTHA MATTOCKS - Editor-in-Chief   I am in charge of The Arabian Magazine and all that comes with it. My passion has always been writing and my primary focus with each edition is ensuring that high-quality content is included in the magazine as well as writing a number of articles myself, based on my many stud and show visits around the world. Away from The Arabian Magazine, I am a regular writer for Arabian Essence, producing a monthly newsletter for them. I have also had articles published in the AHS News, Absolute Horse Magazine, Oasis Online Magazine, the UK Crabbet Journal, NS News, Arabian Studs and Stallions and I have been featured in the EDP Norfolk Magazine. Prior to founding The Arabian Magazine, I worked for Aviva (Norwich Union) for many years in their central communications department, interviewing people around the world for a global intranet and producing departmental newsletters. As for my own horses I have, with my parents, a small stud in south Norfolk which specialises in Crabbet/Old English bloodlines. We currently have eleven Arabians including the 100% Crabbet AHS Premium Mare Rosaliah Gold (Golden Silver x Siala) and her daughter, the 2009 Reserve British National Champion Yearling Filly, Shams Al Thahabiyya (by Psadishio Ibn Esstashan). I myself own a beautiful Donax mare, Crystal Belladonna, who many of you may remember from the veteran class at Malvern 2004 where she qualified for Towerlands. At that show she had her filly foal, Crystal Silvern Aphrodite, at foot, the first foal of the wonderful stallion, PHA Silvern Risalm. Now rising six, Crystal Silvern Aphrodite has a beautiful colt foal at foot, Masha'allah (by LVA Maximus), my own second generation of breeding, and she has already proved her worth as a fantastic dam. Away from horses, I have just published my collection of poetry, Progress, which sold out in under seven hours. Like many, I am working on a novel and hope to have a draft finished by the end of 2011. You can contact me by e-mailing sam@thearabianmagazine.com or calling +44 (0)5600 707175 or +44 (0)7795 023928. I am at many of the shows around the world - do come and say hello and introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you.Samantha Mattocks - Editor-in-Chief Email: sam@thearabianmagazine.com  Tel: +44 (0)5600 707175 / +44 (0)7795 023928    CLAIRE MOORE - Artistic EditorClaire joins us as the new Artistic Editor. Claire and her husband Mark have been involved in Arabian horses together since the year 2000 and together they breed and show their horses under the guise of Emancy Arabians. Claire gained a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Design from Huddersfield University and before that a BTEC Diploma, also in Art and Design. She has been a keen artist and designer from a very early age and in the past couple of years has been successfully running 'Arabian Horse Promo', creating websites and promotional material for stud farms and owners around the world as well as Arabian horse photography. “I am very excited about working on the magazine and being part of the new team,” says Claire. “I have high hopes for the future of The Arabian Magazine and have big plans to introduce new features and a bold design edge to the layout of the magazine to further enhance its position within the international Arabian horse publication market.”Claire Moore - Artistic Editor Email: claire@thearabianmagazine.com   Tel: +44 (0)1422 250988LAURA PYKE - Deputy Editor I was born into Arabians at the Vlacq Stud in North Wales, where our enthusiasm for breeding genuine and versatile performance horses remains as strong as ever. While the stud is older than I am, the programme rationale is unaltered with all of the foundation horses represented in our herd today. Among these are my first pure-bred, Vlacq Aros, and my renegade part-bred (middle weight hunter), Vlacq Gearfea: both are now veterans and have a lot to answer for! I am also partial to Anglo Arabs and have two homebred mares as well as plenty of pure-breds to whom I have laid claim for the future. Having sampled most disciplines, I remain convinced that Arabians are the ultimate equine; I like to believe that they have taught me well, and that everyone can learn something from an Arab. Although originally destined for medicine, I chose a different path with my English Literature degree from Leeds University. I worked for a printing machinery manufacturer for three years before returning to where my passion lay. My experience lies mostly in breeding and ridden training, and the journey from the former towards the latter. Considered breeding can produce the soundness of body and mind; continuity of care and a broad education can create true performance stars. Writing for The Arabian Magazine has already allowed me to see into stud regimes, meet some very passionate characters and to explore new disciplines. The remarkable rapport often apparent between horse and rider never ceases to amaze me and so I am keen to celebrate all guises of the performance Arabian. Come to think of it, my new role as Deputy Editor at The Arabian Magazine is not dissimilar to my role at the stud; I hope to preserve the true essence of the original, while looking to the future.
