Dale Brown is a fourth generation horseman, raised in the equine culture, and has been training and showing Arabians for over 25 years. Together with his students, he has over fifty prestigious national honours to his name. He takes great pride in forming a young horse as well as rehabilitating an older, more savvy, show horse; training and showing horses is his true passion. Dale Brown's success has been proven and acknowledged in the most competitive show rings, the most aggressive sales arenas, and by his peers. In 2006 he was nominated by the Arabian Professional and Amateur Horseman's Association for the Rising Star Award, and in 2007 & 2008 the extremely celebrated Male Western Pleasure Trainer of the Year Award. World renown Arabian horse photographer and joint owner (with wife Annette) of Straight Egyptian Stud, Rothernburg Arabians, Germany. Still unsure as to where my keen interest in horses originated, I became an Arabian horse addict from a very young age. Growing up in regional Australia, it was a number of years before my parents surrendered and allowed me to own my very own part-bred Arabian. Like many enthusiasts, it was not long before the part-bred gelding was replaced with the opportunity to lease a pure bred mare. Through endurance riding, showing and years of scanning the pages of Arabian magazines, I became interested in Pure Crabbet breeding; and with the generosity and knowledge of other breeders, I established Kendra Park with my father on the border of New South Wales and Victoria (Australia). My background as an English and History teacher combined with my hobby, and encouraged me to write for both Australian and UK-based Crabbet publications www.crabbets.com Karen Jones has joined The Arabian Magazine team as our UK endurance reporter. Karen lives in the Blackdown Hills on the Devon/Somerset border and shares her life with her husband, four Arabian horses, four dogs, and three cats. She has been competing in endurance for 12 years and is a member of the Endurance GB Elite Squad with her bay gelding Macadamia. Her sights are set on becoming a Team GB rider for 2011 and representing the country at the European Championships in Florac, France in September. A young mother of three children, French Clothilde has been an enthusiast admirer of all equines since the age of two years old. Taught the essence of riding horses by a Spanish rider, she began her long journey with Arabians at the age of 18 and discovered the magic of this breed not long after. She bought her first Polish gelding and wanted to discover more about the roots of this fabulous horse. Clothilde has spent many years studying the history of the Arabian breed, but has focused on the Asil-bred horses and is dedicated to preserve the straight Egyptian Sheykh Obeyd horses. She is a European specialist in these old bloodlines and works to keep alive a network of devoted breeders and enthusiasts around the world. Her passion culminated in creating her own breeding farm with mainly Straight Babson horses. She insists on the sport and riding ability of the Arabian horse, maintaining their standards and ethereal beauty. A keen photographer, Clothilde always tries to capture the essence of the Arabian through simplicity. Clothilde wants to share her passion with as many people as possible and decided to write for The Arabian Magazine because she feels that Samantha has done a great job and that the magazine is one of the most interesting in the world today www.straightbabsons.com Andy Peffers is our 2010 veterinary health writer. “I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 1995. Since 2002 I have been a partner in Village Vets; a small animal and equine practice in sunny North Wales. I particularly enjoy equine stud work and equine dentistry. I have a wife who events, two young boys in pony club and occasionally I find time to compete at dressage, to a remarkably average level. I spent my formative years competing in show jumping, cross country, ODE and endurance competitions on my family's part-bred Arabs. In 1998 I bought my first two pure-bred Arabians Aliesha and Sweet Simplicity who became the foundation mares of my Zayin Arabian Stud. In 1999, I raced them both as an owner/trainer/jockey and won The Heart of England Maiden Stakes at Stratford with Sweet Simplicity, fulfilling my lifelong ambition to ride a winner racing. The stud now numbers nearly 11 horses and is based in Charlwood, Surrey, with various bloodlines representing influential endurance and racing families. I will have my first homebred runners racing in 2006. I have been the Arabian Racing Organisation's Official Reporter since 2002 and I also write for the weekly national paper The Weekender. Peter and Marilyn Sweet have been photographing Arabian horses for the past 30 years and are regularly seen in the show-ring at events across the country.
